welcome to Lutheran Church of Uganda Midwestern Deanery

The Lutheran Church of Uganda (LCU) is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church worldwide which has its beginnings in the 1517 WHEN Dr. Martin Luther publically called for the correction of the errors in the Medieval Church. LCU started in 1993 in the Eastern District of Jinja and it has now spread countrywide with over 100,000 Lutherans distributed in over 200 congregations.

Departments at Midwestern Deanery

EDUCATION

In all we are doing in the department, we shall be guided by God and hence daily devotions shall be undertaken at all the Education institutions and daily sermons shared in all classes.

HEALTH

The LCU Secretariat in partnership with Mercy Medical Team from Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS) have held a week long Medical Camp. Over 4,000 people were treated of various illnesses at a medical camp held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Kyamujwara.

MISSIONS AND EVANGELISM

The program is designed in such a way that it reaches everyone irrespective of their religion, tribes, race, churched and unchurched.

WOMEN'S LEAGUE

The women have engaged themselves in number of income generating activities such as tailoring, basket and bags making, Art & Crafts, door mat making among others.

Future Prospects

Among others, projects below are listed for implementation

A radio station

The Deanery also plans to establish a radio station. The radio station will help to address the changing approaches to worship, which were innovated during the outbreak of the COVID 19 pandemic, rendering little or no access to places of worship. The radio will enable the Church to reach out to both Lutheran and non-Lutheran Christians in the deanery and beyond.

A health centre

The Deanery also plans to establish a Health Centre at Kyamujwara village Masindi Municipality. The Health Centre will not only improve health conditions of the Lutheran congregants but also for the communities around.

a technical institute

Among others projects listed for implementation included plans to establish a technical institute for the Deanery. This will go a long way in imparting technical skills and knowledge to present and future generations.

staff further studies

Taking staffs for further studies. This will apply to both teaching and also House of Clergy so as to enable them acquire more knowledge and have capacity building programs that will enable them to deliver efficient services to God’s people.

a secondary school

Plans are also underway to establish the first Secondary School in the Deanery. Three acres of land have already been acquired to this effect. The said land is next to Katumba Lutheran Nursery and Primary School.

school dometries

Construction of school dometries for the schools run by the Deanery is one of the other projects that are lined up for implementation.
